Bhimdutta Polytechnic Institute (BDPI) is the 48th constituent institute of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) — the only CTEVT-run government institute serving the districts of Baitadi, Darchula and Dadeldhura. Established in 2075 B.S., it is located right on the road-head near Patan bazaar, close to the Dashrath Chand Highway and the Area Police Office in Patan Municipality-6, Baitadi. As per the decision of the Council of Ministers, land was provided to the institute on a 30-year usufruct basis. Starting with the Diploma in Agriculture (Plant Science), the institute added Diploma in Civil Engineering (2076 B.S.) and Diploma in Pharmacy (2077 B.S.), and currently runs three 3-year diploma programs. Admissions open the day after SEE results are published; an entrance exam is held on the notified date and students are admitted on merit. As a government institute, teaching is offered at a minimum fee. The institute has an administrative building, well-equipped labs, classrooms, a library, a canteen, a skill-test centre, a drawing room, an assembly hall, staff residence, a meeting hall and a girls' hostel. Teaching is delivered by trained, qualified full-time instructors. In total, 28 staff work here. So far, Diploma in Agriculture has produced 3 batches (85% results), Civil Engineering 2 batches (90% results) and Pharmacy 1 batch (80% results).
