Deprosc Microfinance Financial Institution Limited is a national-level microfinance institution operating under the Bank and Financial Institutions Act, 2073 and the Company Act, 2063. It was registered on 2057 Poush 28 with the Office of the Company Registrar under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Government of Nepal. It obtained a license from Nepal Rastra Bank on 2058 Ashadh 19 under the name Deprosc Development Bank Limited. The institution commenced its microfinance operations on 2058 Shrawan 1.  

 

The shareholding structure comprises 9.27% each from Nabil Bank Limited, Nepal Bank Limited, and Lumbini Development Bank Limited; 7.69% from Agricultural Development Bank Limited; 9.99% from Deprosc Nepal (Development Project Service Center); 0.62% from the Center for Environmental and Agricultural Policy Research, Extension, and Development (CEAPRED); 0.53% from Citizen Investment Trust; 0.39% from Mahila Adarsha Samaj; 0.19% from Garima Development Bank Limited; and 4.06% from other individual founders. This results in a total ownership of 51.27% by the promoter group and 48.73% by the general public shareholders.

Mission
  • To develop entrepreneurship among members, create self-employment opportunities, facilitate the marketing of products, raise awareness about environmental conservation, health, and education, provide technical assistance, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders.
  • To deliver sustainable microfinance services, expand financial access for members of disadvantaged, marginalized, and low-income communities in rural areas deprived of formal financial services, and support their economic and social upliftment.
  • To engage in various welfare and social activities related to customer protection.
 

 

Objective

We are committed to providing and developing effective microfinance services in Nepal. Our objectives are as follows:

  • To create self-employment opportunities for underprivileged groups living below the poverty line through microfinance services, thereby increasing income levels and reducing poverty.
  • To provide banking services in rural areas.
  • To offer collateral-free loans to underprivileged women residing in rural areas on a group guarantee basis, aiming to improve their social and economic status.
  • To provide accessible microloans to underprivileged groups for agriculture, trade, industry, and service-related businesses.
  • To protect and promote the rights and interests of stakeholders while providing the general public with quality and reliable financial services.
  • To utilize available skills, labor, and capital efficiently for the establishment, operation, development, and promotion of productive and employment-generating businesses in rural and urban areas. Additionally, to actively engage in poverty alleviation by offering necessary financial tools, technical and managerial consultancy services, training, and technology.
  • To create self-employment opportunities within Nepal by providing microfinance services to underprivileged and marginalized communities, especially targeting youth.
  • To mobilize financial resources from internal and external sources for the establishment, development, and expansion of productive enterprises in agriculture, industry, services, trade, and other viable sectors, thereby promoting the country’s industrial, commercial, and agricultural development.
  • To integrate scattered capital across the country, institutionalize investments, and ensure financial intermediation through healthy competition.
  • To offer sustainable and reliable microfinance services to underprivileged, marginalized, and low-income communities by conducting research and studies on various aspects of microfinance, and providing innovative and high-quality services.
