The foundation was established with the desire to support people from the Netherlands in countries where quality eye care is scarcely available. In the early years, Dutch ophthalmologists travelled to remote areas in Nepal to perform surgeries and restore people’s sight. But it soon became clear that real, lasting change is only possible when knowledge and care are embedded locally.

Today, we focus on training local eye care professionals and nurses, building and supporting eye clinics, setting up mobile eye camps, and providing modern ophthalmic equipment and medical supplies in Cambodia,Laos, Nepal and Vietnam in Asia and Tazania in Africa. In this way, we work together to create sustainable eye care that continues even without our direct presence.
