Gorkha Group was established by 97 ex-British/Indian army servicemen in Nepal’s Lumbini State in the year 1998. One of the primary objectives of the Group was to work on improving the education sector of the area. The group invested in health care and agricultural businesses in the intervening years. Gorkha Group has invested tremendously in school education and has enjoyed astounding success in serving the people of the Lumbini State. Gorkha International Public Higher Secondary school was the first school established with motto “Education is the Light” by the group in Dang.

The group has established four other schools in different places of the Lumbini State, serving more than 7000 students. The schools are known for imparting 21st-century skills to their students. The Group has established three management colleges in Dang where about 500 students’ study. The college has produced able graduates who are now serving financial institutes throughout the Lumbini area and beyond. The Group established a 55-bed well-equipped hospital in Ghorahi in April 2012. The hospital is known for its quality yet affordable services to patients as far as Rolpa, Salyan,Rukum and Pyuthan districts. The hospital is equipped with an advanced operation theater for surgeries. It provides specialized services in medicine, gynecology, pediatrics and radiology, and orthopedics.

The Group has forayed into agri-business recently. The main purpose of establishing agri-business is to create a model farm and assist the farmers in the surrounding areas to engage in industrial farming breaking away from subsistence farming that has been the norm in the past. The Group has 500 plus employees in its business ventures.
