Greenery and charming tea gardens, small and large rivers and waterfalls, lakes and ponds, mountain ranges and other natural beauties are important aspects and topics of tourist attraction. Ilam is considered economically prosperous due to the presence of fertile land and old farmers. This district, which is culturally, naturally and economically prosperous, is known by nicknames such as "Queen of the Mountains, Cashew Nut Mine", "Uncut Diamond", and "Abode of Red Panda".
Ilam is also known as the district of eight A's (ginger, potato, olan, akbare khursani, amliso, cardamom, orthodox tea and hospitality).
Geographically flat and very attractive tourist attractions, such as the beautiful sunrise and sunset views of Sriantu, Siddhithumka, Sandakpur, and the religiously famous Mabu, Fikkal, Sankhabung and Bouddhadham monasteries, and sacred centers and places of faith such as Mangmalung, Gajurmukhi, Singhbahini, and Maisthan, Ilam is a place full of sacred places of faith.
The only government hospital located in the headquarters of this diverse district was established as a dispensary in 1987 BS in a 3-room thatched building. In 1994 BS, the dispensary was moved to its current location and was recognized as a hospital. When the dispensary was established and after that in 1998/99, 2004-07 BS, doctors started providing services here. Elders say that there was a Bengali doctor at that time.
BS Only in 2029/30 BS, this hospital received approval to operate as a 15-bed hospital under the Government of Nepal.
Since 2044 BS, a Hospital Development and Support Committee was formed to strengthen and organize the service, and on 2061 BS, His Majesty's Government decided to form a Hospital Development Committee for the operation of Ilam Hospital. After that, keeping in mind the pressure of patients, it was upgraded from 15 beds to 25 beds as per the decision of the Government of Nepal (Secretary level) dated 2061.05.28. In order to ensure the right of the people to receive health services, keeping in mind the pressure of patients, it has been upgraded to 50 beds with the appointment of specialist doctors as per the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 2072.04.01.
In order to continue developing health services as a very important part of human rights, the current Constitution of Nepal has adopted receiving health services as a fundamental right of the people.
The Government of Nepal has taken the objective of providing quality services in the health sector by skilled human resources, in accordance with the provisions of the Nepal Health Service Act 2053 BS and the Nepal Health Service Regulations 2055 BS.
