Mahila  Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MLBSL) as a public limited company received operating license from Nepal Rastra Bank as D class financial institution on 2075/06/22 to operate under Bank and Financial Institution Act, 2073. It’s Central Office is located in Sanga-13, Kavre and working area is all district of Nepal. It provides customer friendly microfinance services in rural areas as well as some urban areas of Nepal for the poorest people. The Bittiya Sanstha has commenced its financial transaction from 2075/07/01 B.S. It is providing micro-financial services to the low income & underprivileged peoples through our Branch Offices which are located in different parts of Country.

Emergence and Background

Mahila Lagubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. is an initiative of a group of visionary people working together for women empowerment through various ways.  The Program in micro-credit banking before was registered as an NGO in a name “Centre for Women Rights and Development”.

Centre for Women Rights and Development

(CWRD) established in 1992/93, is a micro-finance non-governmental organization (MFI/NGO). It has been implementing micro-finance programs since 2001 obtaining license from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) – the Central Bank of Nepal. It was initially started with the objective of working for the civil, socio-cultural and other fundamental rights of women.

The rationale behind the inception of CWRD is that the basic problems of wide scale and deep rooted poverty and resultant socio-economic backwardness cannot be addressed through the efforts of government alone, complementary and supplementary initiation and efforts should come from nongovernmental organizations as well. Towards this, CWRD has been executing development projects and micro-finance programs intended for the benefit of the poor and disadvantaged families especially women, which we aim to intensify further through newer programmes and implementations through Mahila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd.  (MLBSL).

Now, after obtaining license from the Nepal Rastra Bank (Central bank of Nepal), all the assets & liabilities of CWRD’s & microfinance program has been transferred to Mahila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd.  (MLBSL).

MLBSL is exploring and initiating women empowerment for both; socio-cultural as well as economic independency of women. With establishment of MLBSL, its micro-credit program will help women secure and utilize loans for various purposes. Saving habits, health insurance policies will help women learn the ways to be economically independent and secure.
