When the COVID-19 disease spread from Wuhan, China to the entire world and took the form of a pandemic, the Gandaki Province government also engaged in managing the pandemic. To prevent, control, and treat the increasing coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Gandaki Province, the Gandaki Province government was exploring various measures. In this process, on the date Chaitra 30, 2076 (April 12, 2020), the cabinet meeting decided to assign the then Ministry of Social Development the responsibility to bring the Lekhnath Community Lions Hospital, operated by the local community in Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 30, Mohariya, under the ownership of the Gandaki Province government. With this decision, the process of establishing the Lekhnath Community Lions Hospital as a provincial hospital under the ownership of the Gandaki Province government began. In this process, after several stages of meetings, an agreement was reached between the Ministry of Social Development and the Community Hospital Management Committee on Shrawan 1, 2077 (July 16, 2020), and from that date, the ownership was transferred to the Gandaki Province government. In the cabinet meeting held on Bhadra 3, 2077 (August 19, 2020), the hospital was named the "Infectious and Communicable Disease Hospital," and since that date, it has been providing services as the Infectious and Communicable Disease Hospital.
