Guided by the divine motto “Gyanena Paramo Sewa” (Imparting Knowledge Is the Greatest Service) in letter and spirit, Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya, Bhaktapur (SAMB) is running under the aegis of Nepali  Army Welfare Fund. SAMB has a glorious history dating back to 2035 B.S. The same year, the Mahavidyalaya was established as Suping Multiple Campus at Bhimphedi, Makawanpur as a constituent campus of Tribhuvan University. It was then jointly funded by Nepali Army and Tribhuvan University. In Chaitra 2042, the Mahavidyalaya was shifted to Sallaghari, Bhaktapur from Bhimphedi and from 14^th Poush, 2043 B.S., the campus started running under the affiliation of Tribhuvan Universtity with her new nomenclature Birendra Sainik Mahavidyalaya/ Campus, and since then the Mahavidyalaya is running solely under the auspices of Nepali Army. In Shrawan 2067, the Mahavidyalaya had a slight change in her name from Birendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya (BSAMV) to the present Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyialaya, Bhaktapur (SAMB).

To impart modern and quality education to the children of Nepali Army personnel and civilians, the Mahavidyalaya started school level education from Grade IV as well with the commendation of the then government. The Mahavidyalaya, where the boy students would only get the opportunity for studies, also started co-education in the campus and school from 2046 B.S. and 2047 B.S. respectively. From the year 2060 B.S., the Mahavidyalaya also got the affiliation of Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) to run Management Faculty, and since 2066 B.S., she has been running Humanities, Science, and Management faculties smoothly. By 2076 B.S., 26 batches in school level have already completed their SLC/SEE from the Mahavidyalaya. In addition, the Mahavidyalaya also started two sections of Management and a section of Science for the day scholars in Morning Shift in 2077 B.S. In the academic journey, the Mahavidyalaya further got affiliation from TU to run B.Sc. from 2069 B.S. and BBA from 2070 B.S., and since then, she has been regulating the Bachelor's programmes efficiently.

SAMB has been imparting quality education at an affordable cost to the children of both army personnel and civilians since it was founded more than four decades back. The institution is committed to ensuring that every pupil receives an education that enables them to attain the highest level of achievement possible. SAMB has provided congenial atmosphere of learning and growing for all the students hailing from every nook and cranny of the country. Our students have achieved high recognition not only in academics but they have also excelled exceptionally well in many regional and national level competitions and tournaments in different games.

Our students have always strived for academic excellence and have come up with outstanding results in the Board Exams of SLC/SEE, HSEB/NEB and TU. Our present existence bears witness to our past successes. The tiny sapling planted in 2035 B.S. has grown into a mighty tree, spreading the seed of erudition far and wide. The fruit of long term vision has ignited the hundreds of students, the much needed spark to blaze a trail of success and achievement.

Objectives

Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya aims to provide quality education to the children of Nepalese Army(In-service and Ex-Army personnel) and the children of civilian families in order to produce patriotic, dexterous, versatile, disciplined and dedicated human resources that can lead the country in various walks of life. In accordance with the Educational Policy of the Government of Nepal, the Mahavidyalaya has the aim of fulfilling the following objectives:

• To impart quality education to the sons and the daughters of in-service and retired army personnel and offer the same facilities to the children of civilians

• To produce manpower to provide able leadership in the various institutions nationally and internationally

• To produce loyal, capable and trustworthy manpower who can shoulder the responsibilities of developing the country

• To promote good conduct, high sense of morality, feelings of nationalism and discipline
