Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya Pokhara was first established as 'Gyanendra Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya in 2061 B.S (2004 AD). Its primary objective was to provide quality education to the children of army personnel and the children of civilians. It is run under the welfare program of the Nepali Army Welfare Fund. The temporary prefab School building was inaugurated on Ashadh 29, 2061 B.S. (July 13, 2004 A.D.) by then Right Honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Sher Bahadur Deuba. After constructing the main school buildings of the Mahavidhyalaya in 2065, the school is run in the current location from Jestha 11, 2065 B.S.
