The Surkhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) was established in 1981 A.D. (2038 B.S.). Located in Birendranagar, Surkhet—formerly the regional headquarters of the Mid-Western Development Region—the Chamber was founded as a leading institution representing the overall private sector of the region. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sustainable growth and development of the private sector.
Since its inception, the Chamber has played a vital role in the promotion and development of agriculture, industry, trade, and service sectors in the region. It has been actively engaged in safeguarding the rights and interests of entrepreneurs and business communities, contributing to policy advocacy, fostering coordination, and supporting the expansion of economic activities.
The Surkhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry is recognized as the only ISO-certified institution in Western Nepal. Currently, the Chamber has approximately 7,300 affiliated members and around 21 commodity-based committees operating under its umbrella.
Situated in Birendranagar, the capital of Karnali Province, the Chamber plays an active role in coordinating with local, provincial, and federal governments in shaping business strategies. It also serves as a strong bridge between the public and private sectors, contributing significantly to overall economic development.
