The proponent Shri Saurya Cements Limited is currently producing 4,800 MT of limestone per day from Block A and B in Ward No. 8 and 9 of Katari Municipality, Udayapur District, Koshi Pradesh and now it is proposed to extract an additional 3,450 MT of limestone from Block C and Block D. The draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report of the proposed mining project for a total of 8,250 MT of limestone from Block A and B, Block C and Block D has been received by this Ministry along with the recommendation of the Shri Ministry of Industries, Commerce and Supplies.

In accordance with Sub-rule (6) of Rule 9 of the Environment Protection Regulations, 2077, a notice has been published in a national daily newspaper at the national level to collect opinions and suggestions on the draft environmental study report and the report has also been made public on the website of the Ministry of Forest and Environment: www.mofe.gov.np and the website of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies: www.moics.gov.np. If the opinions and suggestions of the stakeholders are received on this report, this Ministry will include them in the draft report. Therefore, if any opinion or suggestion is received from the general public or organization regarding the draft report, you are hereby invited to send your opinions and suggestions to the relevant proposer or to the following address within seven (7) days from the date of first publication of this notice.
