The Safer Migration (SaMi) Programme is a bilateral initiative of the governments of Nepal and Switzerland. The programme is implemented in partnership between federal, provincial, and local governments. Helvetas Nepal provides technical assistance to the programme on behalf of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). We encourage interested Nepali citizens with a keen desire to learn to apply for this Traineeship opportunity.

 

Position: Trainee 

Required No: 7

Duty Station: Biratnagar, Janakpur, Hetauda, ​​Pokhara, Dang, Surkhet, and Dhangadhi (Province Headquarters).

Duration: 1 year (12 months) with fixed duration.

Stipend and benefits: As per the rules and regulations of Helvetas Nepal.

Key learning objectives

  • The trainee will gain first-hand knowledge of a fa professional working environment and acquire skills in the field of migration and development. 
  • The trainee will learn about the different phases of migration, as well as the related challenges and prospects.
  •  Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Provincial Program Manager, the trainee will have the opportunity to learn about the dynamics of the labour migration sector, project/program cycle management
  • the Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs), Employment Skills and Entrepreneurship Centres (ESEC), federal state building, and the role of the three spheres of government and their linkages to the migration sector.

 


 

Required Education and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in the field of social science, humanities, public administration, education, law, health, or any other relevant field.
  • Fresh graduate with no prior job experience.
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree within two years while applying for the position.
  • Willingness to undertake extensive field travel within and outside the province.
  • Commitment towards gender equality, social inclusion, poverty reduction, and sensitivity towards migrant workers and their families.
  • Proactive with a keen learning attitude and a strong sense of responsibility.
