Position: News Anchor

Job Summary

The News Anchor is the face and voice of the news channel. They are responsible for presenting news stories in a clear, engaging, and professional manner. The anchor must stay updated on current events, coordinate with the newsroom team, and ensure that broadcasts maintain high journalistic and production standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop program ideas, scripts, and content in coordination with editorial and creative teams.
• Present daily news bulletins, breaking news, interviews, and special reports on air.
• Research, write, and edit news scripts when required, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and objectivity.
• Collaborate with reporters, desk editors, and producers to ensure smooth flow of news segments.
• Conduct live interviews with guests, experts, and correspondents.
• Maintain professionalism and calm under pressure during live broadcasts and breaking news situations.
• Review and rehearse scripts, intros, and transitions before going on air.
• Stay informed about local, national, and international news developments.
• Participate in editorial meetings and contribute story ideas or improvements to content delivery.
• Adhere to the editorial guidelines and ethical standards of the television company.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, or related field.
• Prior experience as a news anchor or reporter is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in [Nepali and/or English].
• Confident, articulate, and engaging on-camera presence.
• Excellent pronunciation, voice modulation, and clarity in speech.
• Ability to handle live broadcasts and breaking news with composure.
• Strong understanding of news values, current affairs, and media ethics.
• Familiarity with teleprompters, studio equipment, and newsroom workflows.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
