Kantipur/The Kathmandu Post is seeking three law students to work as research interns on a data-driven investigative journalism project.

 

Position: Research Interns

 


 

Position overview

  • Interns will read and analyze legal documents, particularly criminal charge sheets and judgments, and enter structured data into a Google Sheets data-base. The work requires careful reading of Nepali legal texts, strong attention to detail, and accurate, consistent data entry.

 

Note: This database will support an upcoming published investigative series.

 


 

Eligibility

  • Currently enrolled in a law program (second year or above preferred)
  • Comfortable reading Nepali legal documents, including charge sheets and judgments
  • Proficient in Google Sheets
  • Must have access to a personal laptop (work-from-home position)
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to meet deadlines
  • Interest in law, justice, and journalism

 


 

What you will gain

  • Direct exposure to investigative and data journalism methods
  • Experience building a legal database from primary source documents
  • Credit in a published investigative series in a national publication
  • Reference letter upon successful completion
  • Practical understanding of Nepal's criminal justice process

 


 

Duration and commitment

  • Approximately one month, beginning in the last week of Chaitra 2082 Estimated 6 hours per day
