Qualifications

Qualifications for the Vice President Academic and Research shall be as follows:

• At least PhD degree in relevant subjects.
• At least associate professor in relevant subject. Full professor preferred.
• Experience of work/study at reputed academic institutions (excellence ranking of not less than 500 in Webometrics) will be preferable.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in executive positions of at least five years.
• Experience of work in public institutions of at least five years.
• Experience of successfully supervising (graduating) at least four PhD students.
• Experience of working with various levels of the Government, development partners, businesses and communities will be preferred.
• Life time achievements recognized by the society.

Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

The tasks, duties and responsibilities of the Vice-President Academic and Research shall be as follows:

• To supervise activities related to academic matters such as academic development plan and its implementation, academic programs, academic calendar, student admission, student evaluation, granting degrees to students and honorary degrees.
• To supervise activities related to research and development such as planning and implementation.
• To supervise activities related to setting standards such as faculty standards, student admission and graduation standards, recognitions of qualifications of other academic institutions.
• To supervise determination of needs for the faculty and researchers and their recruitment.
• To supervise activities related to faculty and staff evaluation.
• To supervise activities related to fee waiver, student financial assistance, recognitions of achievement of students and student affairs in general.
• To supervise facilities for teaching and research.
• To maintain good relationship with all levels of government, development partners, public and private agencies/businesses, community, foundations, press etc.
• To help developing collaboration projects between the University and other agencies — government and non-government, national and foreign.
• To contribute to the planning, policy making, operation and development of the university as a member of in the senior management team of the university.
• To supervise the preparation of annual program and budget.To review and implement policies related to Intellectual property and implement them as approved.
• To assist the President and provide cross-support to the Vice President Academic and Finance.
• To raise funds for the University.
• To execute other tasks assigned by the President.

Remuneration and Facilities

The remuneration and other benefits of the Vice President Academic and Research shall be as prescribed in the Personnel Administration Rules, 2080 and Financial Management Rules, 2080.
