Position : Climate Smart Education Advisor

Brief Description
The position holder will provide technical support to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) on "Climate-Smart Education Systems Strategic Capability Initiative" (CSESI), specifically in the areas of: (a) internal and cross-sectoral coordination; (b) climate finance to strengthen resilience and support adaptation to the impacts of climate change; (c) safer and greener infrastructure; and (d) school safety management and educational continuity. The position holder will be accountable for delivering results in each of these areas, including mainstreaming of climate change adaptation, mitigation, and environmental sustainability into national education policies, plans, and budgets. The role involves coordination and collaboration with UNESCO, other relevant ministries, technical working groups (TWGs), and stakeholders on CSESI.
Eligibility
Master's degree in education, environmental sciences, or a related field, with at least 7 years of professional experience (5 years for candidates from the GSI group) in climate change, or in areas related to climate justice, and education policy, planning, advocacy, coordination, and financing.
*GSI group: Women, Dalit, Madhesi, People with Disabilities, and other underrepresented groups.
