The Sustainable Tourism Project (STP) a collaborative initiative between the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Nepal- aims to enhance local livelihoods by improving tourism facilities and services along three priority trekking trails, while promoting inclusive employment and enterprise opportunities for women, youth, and marginalized groups, and increasing both domestic and international tourist inflow through policy advocacy, digital innovation, strategic branding, targeted marketing, and media outreach.

 

The project intervention is expected to upgrade three priority trekking trails and enhance the basic facilities of the trekking trails and associated services, promote emerging destinations, build local capacities, and digitize tourism services. Project particularly focusing on creating tourism-based employment opportunities for poor, vulnerable, and marginalized groups including women, youth, LGBTIQ people, and persons with disabilities, capacity development of the tourism sector workforce, standardization of tourism services, adoption of digitization, and promotion of Nepal's tourism sector.

Required Qualification, Skills and Experience :

 

Minimum Academic Education:

Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics or Management, Mass Communication, Development Studies, Sustainable Community Development, Gender Study or any relevant fields is required.

 


 

Experience:

  • At least 5  years’ practical working experience in communication, monitoring and evaluation in development sectors or other relevant field is required.
  • Sound knowledge and experience on writing reports, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
  • Experience working with Monitoring and Evaluation tools and managing database software.
  • Proven experience with results-based planning, designing and implementation of M&E systems, M&E methods and approaches and data/information collection, analysis and reporting is desired.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in gathering GESI disaggregated data and translating those data into evidence for reporting is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation, data collection and analysis, and reporting is desired.
  • Hands on experience in data management and analysis with mastering in operating data management software; SPSS, Strata, Power BI etc. is an advantage.
  • Proven experience of working on project communications including developing IEC Materials will be an asset. Experience working with local government will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working in/with international donor-funded projects is desired
  • Solid experience in working with a multi-cultured group of people and systems in high-pressure environments will be an advantage.

 


 

Required Language(s):

  • Fluency in written and spoken Nepali and English, Fluency in the language of the duty station
