The Sustainable Tourism Project (STP) a collaborative initiative between the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Nepal- aims to enhance local livelihoods by improving tourism facilities and services along three priority trekking trails, while promoting inclusive employment and enterprise opportunities for women, youth, and marginalized groups, and increasing both domestic and international tourist inflow through policy advocacy, digital innovation, strategic branding, targeted marketing, and media outreach.

 

The project intervention is expected to upgrade three priority trekking trails and enhance the basic facilities of the trekking trails and associated services, promote emerging destinations, build local capacities, and digitize tourism services. Project particularly focusing on creating tourism-based employment opportunities for poor, vulnerable, and marginalized groups including women, youth, LGBTIQ people, and persons with disabilities, capacity development of the tourism sector workforce, standardization of tourism services, adoption of digitization, and promotion of Nepal's tourism sector.

 


 

The Project is seeking applications from qualified, talented and result oriented Nepalese citizens for the following positions:

Qualifications :

 

Education: 

  • Master’s degree in project management, sustainable tourism, natural resource management, business studies, development economics, or any other relevant subject.

 


 

Experience:  

  • At least 8 years of experience in project management in sustainable development issues.
  • Working experiences of recovery and short-term employment opportunities in rural/community development initiatives.
  • Experience in skill-based capacity building.
  • Experience in Programme, project management, implementation, and policy advocacy.
  • Good understanding of sustainable tourism and tourism-based employment opportunities.
  • Proven experience of managing and supervising a team of multidisciplinary professionals is an asset.
  • Significant experience in designing and implementation of development programmes as well as monitoring and evaluation is an asset.
  • Prior experience working with Government of Nepal, United Nations and donors would be an asset.
  • Proven ability to produce analytical reports with quantitative data analysis.
  • Experience of working with federal, provincial and local governments, line agencies and community on development projects is an asset.
  • Experience working for the government of Nepal, international donor-funded projects or UN is an asset.
  • Good understanding of other application for data management and project monitoring.
 

 
Language requirements:
  • Fluency in spoken and written Nepali and English languages.

 


 

Other requirements: 

  • Well versed in computer applications like Word, Excel, and Power point.
  • Good report writing skills are highly preferable.
