The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning was established on January 11, 2008, after the election of the Provincial Assembly held in the month of Marg 2074 BS as provided in the Constitution of Nepal.

The task of analyzing the macroeconomic situation of the state and formulating, implementing and regulating the policy is in the hands of the Ministry. The Ministry has been established for the formulation, implementation, and regulation of state-level development policies, priorities, periodic and sectoral plans, annual development programs, formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of economic and planning sector policies and laws.
